I redesigned the cover of the classic novel "The Catcher in the Rye" with a more modern look you would see in the teen fiction section of the book store. I chose a light purple to give a soft feel in contrast to the orange color of the original. I took inspiration from one of the biggest scenes in the book which was when Holden describes how he feels like he is in a rye field full of children who are too short to see over the rye. He is there to watch them to make sure they do not run and fall off of the cliff. This scene represents the overall theme of the book-protecting a child's innocence which is why I wanted it to be a part of the cover design. I wanted to incorporate the flames into the letterhead as a signature design at the bottom while not compromising readability. For the business card, I wanted the back and front to be cohesive by adding the brush stroke feature from the logo onto the back. I of course adhered to their branding guidelines throughout the design, such as their color pallet, and font.
